Brix is a Border Collie / Viszla mix with expressive eyes and a heart full of anxiety. He loves the beach, but is afraid of the water. He knows all his best friends by name, and needs to be tucked into bed every night. He’s happiest on a cold but sunny day in late fall, sprawled on the back porch after a run.
Born in December 2016 in TX, he was adopted by Meara in February of 2017 through PAWS New England. After about a year of intensive training, Meara realized he needed a much bigger energy outlet and that's when they started running together. Fun fact: the longest distance he's ran is a half marathon.
Naia is a rescue originally from Jackson, MS brought north by Save One Soul Animal Rescue League and adopted by Chris in November of 2018. She is a mutt of many things but mostly pit bull terrier, Australian cattle dog, and Siberian husky.
Naia’s favorite activities include chewing on sticks, rolling on grass, nibbling on her friends' ears and necks, digging holes on the beach, climbing mountains, and "arrooooooing" at friends. Naia has completed hiking all 48 of New Hampshire's 4,000ft peaks, but stays grounded these days with no big distances, elevation, or run club anymore because of a shoulder problem, but she gladly tags along to walk club and fun club. She's super happy to have such a great group of doggos in the BrixRuns fam to play with all the time.
Madera, the Spanish word for “wood,” was adopted from Isla Animals in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. She and her siblings were found behind a woodworking shop (also named Madera) and came to Lil’ Rhody via a flight angel in March ‘20.
Madera loves to play chase, do tricks, and help clean the dishes. She’s also been known to try and help bartend at The Guild on Wednesday evenings.
Like his namesake, Fezzik is big and loveable, and could probably pull four people to the top of a cliff if he spotted his doggo friends in the distance. Fuzzy Fezzy is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, originally from Ohio. He loves to dog paddle and is happiest when someone is throwing literally anything he can retrieve. Ball? Ideal. Stick? Absolutely. Sock? That'll do. He loves to be a giant foot warmer even when it's 95 degrees outside, and routinely makes his humans wonder what exactly he ate to make his poo look like he tasted the rainbow. Fezzik dislikes being more than 6" away from one of his humans, and is convinced that he must protect his humans from evil vacuum cleaners, wheels, and squirrels. Fezzik is an enthusiastic runner with a warning label - he will drool excessively, and he will try to wipe it on the nearest leg.
Tux is an American actor, comedian, and filmmaker. He gained prominence for his portrayal of the taxi dispatcher Louie De Palma in the television series Taxi, which won him a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award. He plays Frank Reynolds on the FX and FXX sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Tux is a little boy with a big attitude. He’s a lovable 9-year-old Pekingese/Chihuahua mix adopted from the Providence Animal Rescue League (PARL). Tux is 17lbs of fur-sonality - he loves being carried, snacks of any kind, and biting ankles. While not the best runner, he does his best moving and shaking with the walk club crowd.
Buddy “the og” aka The Big Kahuna is about 13 years old and was rescued in 2017 from Lucky Lab Rescue. This older gentleman came from Texas and quickly adapted to New England life. Buddy loves to play fetch, swim and run around however does most of these activities in his dreams as he spends most of his days snoozing in a comfy spot. Buddy has some issues getting around but still loves the beautiful things in life: a little breeze through his ears, catching mice and eating good food.
Maya is basically a black ball of fluffy poofy anxiety. She loves running, swimming and playing with other dogs. She enjoys a good wrestling match literally any time of day! Maya runs a major residential area and municipal aerospace security operation; nobody enters the premises without getting barked at. In return for her hard work she demands attention and affection by pawing at you to give her scratches. She was found together with her sister Maisie in Texas. Both puppies got Parvo and were nursed back to health by Rural Tank Rescue volunteers. After their recovery they were adopted by members of the same family so they still get to play together regularly.
Lily Pickles is all legs and is not shy about strutting her stuff. She is a playful golden retriever puppy of 8 months, and will only bite if you want her to. She truly loves life and above all things that crunch. According to Lily’s philosophy all things are possibly food and you don’t know until you try it once or in some cases a few times. Lily is still growing and doesn't mind sitting in your lap, even if for a quick snuggle. She is not yet old enough to run with BrixRuns, but looks forward to doing so soon. She loves to snuggle up with her big brother Buddy and sister Maya for a nice nap any time of day.
Gilbert Blythe Hopkins McGroarty was an Arkansas stray who was adopted through Rhode Home Rescue in January 2022. He loves his daily walks at precisely the same times, morning snuggles and anything chicken flavored. He dislikes sirens, sudden movements and anything that seems to even slightly upset his people. He’s a big, loyal love bug.
